INTRODUCTION
In order to make it easier to complete AMR installations in new buildings and to ensure
that all client installation requirements (ADWEA) are met, Contractors should pre-install
the cables-pipes for the AMR equipment in the new buildings.
This chapter describes the AMR pre-installation requisites for the following types of
buildings:

High-rise buildings

Low-rise buildings

Commercial Villas

Villas

Compounds

High-rise building is building with own substation! Low-rise building is building with
power supply from substation which one is feeding 2 or more than 2 buildings!
The main pre-installation requisites that should be observed in future new buildings are:

PVC conduit with data cable should be installed between electrical rooms and
water meter rooms or water meter cabinets. If distance between electrical room
and the water meter room is more than 20 meters or pipe is more than 3 bends,
pull box must be installed on each floor.

PVC conduit with 3-core power cable should be installed between sub main
distribution board (SMDB) and meter board on each floor.

AMR 3 phase spare breaker in each sub main distribution board (SMDB)

On Electrical meter board in electrical room to be enough space for AMR box

In Floor Water Meter Cabinet to be enough space for AMR box

In buildings, where the water meters are installed on the roof, PVC conduit with
4-core data cable should be installed between the nearest Electrical room
(SMDB-with 3 phase power supply) and Amplex Module box which is located in
a room on the roof.

For bulk or operational water meters PVC conduit with 3 core data cable should
be installed between water meter and Main Electrical Room

Main Electrical Room installation should be finished with 3 phase spare breakers
inside MDB for AMR installation with power supply taken directly from Bus
bar!

Villa Water meters to be installed near Electrical room ( max 5 m) with PVC
conduit installed between water meter end Electrical Room for each water meter
or group of water meters

Villa Compound installation should be finished with electricity and water meters
grouped in separate rooms

Floor Water Meter Room Requests

For floor water meter AMR pre-installation we have 3 requests:

1. To have enough space in water meter cabinet or in water meter room for AMR
box (25x25cm)-(Figure 2 & 4A & 4B)
2. To install PVC conduit with 4 core (A-BUS) data cable, following rules of pull
box ( after 3 bands and after 20m) -(Figure 3 & Figure 4)
3. Maximum 4 core (A-BUS) data cable distance 50 meters!

LOW RISE BUILDINGS (G+ 4)

Low-rise building is building with power supply from substation which one is feeding 2 or more
than 2 buildings! On site we have two types:
1. Low-rise buildings, where all water meters are placed on the roof either in a water meter room
or in water meter cabinet on the wall 3.1!
2. Low-rise buildings with water meter floor installation 3.2. !

3.1.2. Roof Water Meter Room Requests

In buildings, where the water meters are installed on the roof, PVC conduit with 4-core data
cable should be installed between the nearest Electrical room (SMDB-with 3 phase power
supply) and Amplex Module box which is located in a room on the roof.
In low-rise buildings, where all water meters are placed on the roof either in a water meter room
( Figure 10A) or in water meter cabinet on the wall, the following pre-installation work should
be carried out:

PVC conduit with 4 core data (A-BUS cable maximum 30m) cable should be
installed between the nearest Electrical room meter board (SMDB with 3 phase power supply)
and Amplex Module box which is located in a room on the roof. (Figure 8 & 9)

PVC conduit with 4 core data cable (A-BUS cable maximum 30m) should be
installed between each water meter cabinet and Amplex Module box which is located in a room
on the roof. (Figure 10)

5.2 Roof Water Meter Requests

AMR pre-installation request for water meter roof installation is that PVC conduit (maximum
30m) should be installed between the nearest sub main distribution board (SMDB) or Service
power Supply (with 3 phase power supply) and roof. (Figure 20)

Villa Compounds

All meters in Villa compounds should be groped in few water meter rooms ( for water meters) and
in few electricity rooms ( for electricity meters)!

For Villa Compound AMR pre-installation we have 2 requests:

1. To group all electricity meters in few Electrical rooms and to group all water meters
in water meter rooms ( Figure 21)
2. To have between each water meter and electricity meter room for same villas
installed PVC pipe with 4 core data cable(maximum distance of A-BUS cable 30m)
( Figure 21)

Bulk and Operational water meters

Bulk or Operational should be installed in water meter room on ground floor or in some available
room in ground floor. If is Bulk or Operational water meter in ground floor water meter room than
we should follow already described ,in this document, pre-installation requests for High&Low-rise
buildings ( PVC pipe with 4 core data cable between ground water and electricity room)!If is Bulk
or Operational water meter in some available room we should have PVC pipe with 3 core data
cable between this meter and Main Electrical room. (Figure 22)
