Discussion:
Concept maps are illustrations, which are used to demonstrate ones organisation of knowledge.
Concept maps can be complex or very simple and are generally used to draw comparisons
between two separate occurrences of knowledge. You will be creating a concept map that
demonstrates your general understanding of the field.
Instructions:
1. Review the following video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQlgx5biqCQ
2. You are to download a free concept-mapping tool (see below) and generate a map. The
map will illustrate your understanding of the field of instructional design, instructional
technology and distance learning.
Important:
It is important to know that from a conceptual view there is no right or wrong answer.
Your definitions of the field at this point is not right or wrong. Albeit - your activity in
completing the assignment maybe wrong though!!!
3. Complete the requirements to create the concept map (see below)
4. Upload your concept map to the Assignment 1 area of your Weebly account
Note: Do ensure that all parts of your submission can be clearly seen
5. Submit the Weebly link to your assignment in the Assignment 1 submission area in the
course
Requirements for Concept Map
Your concept map must contain
1. A clear delineation between the three areas in the field (i.e. instructional design,
instructional technology and distance learning).
This does not mean that you cannot show how the fields are linked it just means that
the one map must have the three areas identified.
2. A sense of time
Time during which you have obtained the knowledge you have illustrated in the map
