The ECOG Performance Status scale is used by doctors and researchers to assess a patient's disease progression and how it impacts daily living, to determine appropriate treatment and predict prognosis. It rates on a 0 to 5 scale, where 0 is fully active without restriction, 1 is restricted physical activity but able to do light work, and 2 is able to self care but unable to work, with higher numbers indicating increased disability up to 5 being dead.
