Today, I decided the storyline of our film and how it will be set.
I came up with the main narrative structure; however we all
contributed specific parts. Moreover, we decided the locations
of where the film should be set; I chose the location of Iqras
previous house, where the fire began. The reason why I chose
this location is because it is reasonably close-by, and the area
is quiet and empty therefore it will create a sense of eeriness
amongst the viewers. The skill that I picked up was how to
collaborate and work as a team.
I presented the pitch to the whole class and we had received
positive feedback. There were a few unexpected questions
asked by the rest of the class, however I managed to
overcome these quicker than I expected. Overall, the pitch
presentation was successful, everyone liked the storyline and
thought we were really organised.
Today we decided the order of the shots were going to include
in our opening sequence and then produced a storyboard. We
then decided the length of the shots, ensuring that they
werent too long and they were short and effective.
I searched YouTube and found suitable background music for
our film, the sound clip of The Woman in Black was
suggested by my older sister as she thought it would adapt to
the whole idea of our storyline well. The search for the music
went better than I expected as they were found rather quickly
and were well incorporated with the scenes.
I decided which shots would be played with different parts of
the music. During this session, I learnt how to fade in, fade out
and crop sound clips using the programme; Final Cut Pro.
I drew the drawings (made by Iqra in the film) along with the
help of Sanjida. We decided not to get Iqra to draw these
drawings as they were inappropriate for young children.
The feedback that we received from our teacher was that
improvements needed to be made, perhaps by using a variety
of shot types when filming the scary house as it will seem
because the viewer to become disinterested if the voiceover is

going over a single shot.

When filming the scary house, I took the teacher feedback
into account and made some adjustments to what I initially
planned to film. This resulted in clear, stable shots from
different perspectives.
Today we met up as a group after school hours to film the
psychologist scene. The filming went really well; although it
was done in a public library there were no distractions that
occurred. One of the problems that I had occurred was that
when I was filming I found the tripod of the camera to be a bit
stiff and this made it hard to tilt the camera up steadily as
sometimes it would shake. I had to do this scene a few times
to get it perfect.

Today we went to film Iqras part of the psychologist scene as

she was very young it was a little hard to control her at times
and get her to listen. However we did eventually persuade her
to work with us and we got the work done. At the beginning
we were struggling to find a suitable place to film however
someone did kindly give up their seat for us to film. One of the
problems that I had occurred was that when I was filming I
found the tripod of the camera to be a bit stiff and this made
it hard to tilt the camera up steadily as sometimes it would
shake. I had to do this scene a few times to get it perfect.
Today we started our editing for our opening sequence. We
were meant to start initially last lesson however because we
did not have some of the key scenes filmed we had t delay our
editing. We uploaded all over footage onto the computer and
placed them into order. We had also adjusted to length of the
clips to make it all fit together. We de-saturated the footage to
make it more dull and lifeless to give it a gloomy effect. We
worked as a team while doing this and all contributed ideas on
how we should edit the sequence and what effects should be
added.
We had continued on the editing today. We added in our sound
tracks where we had wanted them, and added in a few more
effects to adjust the scenes to be in tone with the sound track
being played e.g. we had added the bad tv effect to Iqras
close up in the psychologist room. Although it had taken us
some time to find the suitable effect to go with Iqras scene we
still managed to finish the editing in time.
