December 2014

In my news report scene I will be using the Rednock TV studio as my location. This is because
its set up is really similar to that of a real news studio. The layout/design of the set was altered
when I was filming to have a blank white wall behind the desk with the lamp on the left hand
side of the shot. I chose not to use the black curtain in the back because the colour black has
negative connotations, like death or evil. The news reporter in my production is meant to stay
neutral and that is why I used the plain background.

For the robbers lair scene I used a garage with a large empty stonewall. Despite the fact a darts
board is visible in the image this will be removed prior to filming. I chose this location because
the apparent lack of cleanliness in the garage contrasts with the large amount of preparation
going into this crime. There will be a larger number of posters when I film.

Update/Review 1
After the first 2 sessions of filming I quickly realised that my one of my locations wasnt right at
all and the other had not had the mise-en-scene thoroughly thought through. When I reviewed
the footage from the TV studio I knew that it did not look realistic enough to act as a live
broadcasting newsroom. On top of this, my thiefs preparation board looked underdeveloped. As
a result of these two problems I have decided to take the following action:
Re-film both scenes.
Enhance the mood board by adding further elements.
Focus on the finer details of the board when filming to give the audience an insight into the
robbers mind.
Film the news report scene as if it were live.
Update/Review 2
As a result of my first review I have re-filmed more of my mood board and added extra elements
like a map. I have also filmed these and added them to my opening. In the coming days I plan to
film my news report scene.
