Summar y
The paper is ealing with the formati onal and semant ic anal y sis of the nouns endi ng
with an -ada in Modern Serbian. The suffix -ada i s of forei gn origin and occurs in other
Slavic and non- Slav i c languages (Pol i sh, Czech, Russian, Sl ov ene, English, German, I tal ian, French et c.) . The ending appears in two suffi x vari ants: -ada and -ij ada. The second,
t he enlarged one, is more productive due to its semantic specialization: it serves in f ormati on of nouns meaning happenings, shows, meetings, presentati ons that impl y a certain,
hi gher or l ow er, degr ee of contest. The new f ormati ons are impacted by older structures
l i ke: ol i mp ij ada, univerzij ada, balkanij ada etc. In Modern Serbian, this i mpact created
many derivatives, which sometimes have a quite strange structure. Particularly is numerous the gr oup of derivatives stemming f rom nouns denoting the culinary art speci al ties,

Naturall y, all of these formations, as well as other similar ones, ar e sty listicall y
marked and do not bel ong to the l exi cal standard. Actually, all of them are the neologisms,
or - mor e precisely - they are in the sphere of indivi dual and occasional l anguage featur es.
