Personal Mission Statement

I value respect, honesty, challenges, resiliency, transparency, and passion, in myself and
in others. I believe that individuals should be treated with respect. Respect is about valuing
someone for their humanity, regardless of their identity, their limitations, or their career passions.
I strive to respect others and live my life with honesty in a way that makes me happy and proud
of what I am doing. Honesty is about being true to my values and morals at all times regardless
of adversity. As a first generation student and a proud Latina, I am no stranger to challenges and
overcoming struggles. Instead of dwelling on the things that I cannot change, I utilize my
Community Cultural Wealth (Yosso, 2005) to navigate and excel through any situation. I do my
best to be resilient; pick myself up, learn from my mistakes, and look ahead at the possibilities. I
do not hold others to my expectations, instead I aim to lead by example and be transparent with
my values, limitations, and strengths, in hopes that others will too. I strive for success and work
well with others who have a similar drive and passion to stand out. I am at my best when I am
true to my values in both my personal and professional life, and how I treat others and myself, is
a reflection of my integrity.
