Analysis
The
beginning
of
the
trailer
gives
us
an
establishing
shot
of
a
birds
eye
view
of
a
man
walking,
it
then
pans
behind
the
man
giving
us
two
angles
of
him
walking
into
a
village,
which
sets
the
scene.
The
lighting
being
low-key
reflects
the
negative
mood
also
relating
to
the
scenery
and
non-diegetic
music
being
used.
It
then
cuts
quickly
to
a
low
shot
of
a
pub
sign;
light
is
flashed
directly
at
the
camera.
Iconography
like
this
is
used
as
its
memorable
for
a
viewer.
It
then
goes
onto
a
mid
shot
of
the
man,
as
a
viewer
see
him
walking
past
a
telephone
box,
it
then
cuts
to
a
young
girl
on
a
bench,
cutting
to
an
eye
line
match
between
the
two.
The
direct
gaze
directed
at
the
camera
creates
tension
suggesting
something
bad
has
happened.
You
can
only
see
the
young
girls
face
due
to
the
low
key
lighting,
reflecting
the
drama,
her
eyes
covered
in
makeup
as
if
she
has
been
crying.
As
the
camera
cuts
back
to
the
man
he
looks
away,
suggesting
hes
pitiless
towards
the
girl
this
once
again
reflecting
to
the
themes
of
Emmerdale
being
quite
a
hard-hitting
drama.
Furthermore,
it
then
cuts
to
a
shot
of
a
women
walking
dressed
in
black,
just
like
most
of
the
other
characters,
an
eye
line
match
between
the
man
and
women
once
again
occurs
suggesting
everyone
is
a
suspect
and
everyone
is
being
watched.
It
then
goes
to
a
panning
shot
of
a
girl
in
a
car,
an
eye
line
matched
made
between
her
and
the
other
female
with
blank
facial
expressions.
This
connoting
conflict
has
occurred
between
the
two.
The
man
carries
on
walking
through
the
town,
every
time
a
direct
gaze
happens
with
camera;
a
different
reaction
is
made
by
different
groups
of
people.
There
is
then
a
group
shot,
where
a
female
directly
an
eye
line
shot
occurs,
the
womens
facial
expression
expresses
shocked
feelings
towards
him,
at
the
same
time,
the
camera
pans
out
showing
a
man
being
pulled
back
as
if
he
was
about
to
cause
conflict
with
the
other
male.
It
then
cuts
back
to
the
man
walking
in
the
village,
who
carries
on
once
again
like
he
doesnt
care.
Two
females
and
one
male
are
walking
into
a
pub;
their
appearance
reflects
the
rural
setting,
for
example;
wellingtons
and
caps
this
linking
back
to
possible
jobs
they
could
have,
which
reflects
the
programmes
setting.
The
trailer
is
very
slow
pace
reflecting
the
slow
pace
life
the
people
lead
in
Emmeradle
Village,
everybody
is
also
edited
to
have
slow
motion
reactions.
Finally
theres
a
women
looking
out
of
the
blinds,
sneakily,
at
the
male.
We
see
his
shadow
walk
across,
creating
an
enigma.
It
then
cuts
back
to
a
birds
eye
view
shot
of
him
walking
again,
finally
with
a
non-
diegetic
voiceover
of
Emmerdale
with
the
same
mellow
music,
it
then
states
Judgement
Day
which
anchors
the
drama
and
the
themes
in
the
programme.
