Product Description
Alpha Lipoic acid has been used as a therapeutic agent in a number of conditions
relating to liver disease including alcohol-induced damage, mushroom poisoning
(specifically to the Amanita mushroom) and heavy metal poisoning.
A significant clinical improvement with lipoic acid treatment has also been reported.
In the 1977 Burton M. Berkson, MD, MS, PhD, from the National Institutes of Health first
used alpha lipoic acid as a treatment for various forms of hepatitis.
He administered alpha lipoic acid to a liver patient, intravenously, who is dying from the
disease. The patient surprised doctors and not only recovered, but was free of liver
disease 30 years later.
After this three more patients with severe liver damage were treated with ALA and the
same remarkable results was obtained.
Alpha lipoic acid should be taken with any oral or injectable steroids that could stress the
liver.
