Topic of the Dissertation Fundamental Analysis of Major Banks in India

Executive Summary: Fundamental analysis, which is also known as quantitative analysis,


involves delving into a companys financial statements (such as profit and loss account and
balance sheet) in order to study various financial indicators (such as revenues, earnings,
liabilities, expenses and assets. Fundamental Analysis involves examining the economic,
financial and other qualitative and quantitative factors related to a security in order to
determine its intrinsic value.
The Indian banking sector has emerged as one of the strongest drivers of Indias economic
growth. The Indian banking industry (US$ 1.22 trillion) has made outstanding advancement
in last few years, even during the times when the rest of the world was struggling with
financial meltdown. India's economic development and financial sector liberalization have
led to a transformation of the Indian banking sector over the past two decades .So , its
becomes imperative to study some of the measure players in the Banking Industry .
The dissertation would consist of the detailed research on four banks namely : Axis , HDFC ,
State Bank of India and Citi Bank.
Objective:
The objective of conducting this research is to mainly to study the Major Indian banks and
compare them with each other. As the banks chosen are a mix of public , private and Foreign
banks , it would help in analysing the performances in a deeper sense by comparing them
with each other.
Methodology:
A complete fundamental research of the major banks namely, Axis Bank ,State Bank of
India , HDFC and Citi Bank ,will be carried out along with the study of the banking sector
which will help in arriving at the potential benchmarks for the industry. The research will be a
mix of both qualitative as well as quantitative research.
Expected Outcome:
To understand the Indian Banking Industry and compare performances of some of the major
players.To understand the scope and future of the Banking Industry.
