This document summarizes two articles on novel Carnot-based cycles for ocean thermal energy conversion and the thermodynamic analysis of a combined Carnot cycle with internal irreversibility. The first article proposes a cycle that exploits the temperature difference between warm surface ocean waters and cooler deep waters, using an inert fluid and turbine to produce work as the fluid moves between isolated cylinders connected to an evaporator and condenser. Various working fluids were evaluated and R134a was determined to have suitable high pressure change properties despite not being the most efficient. The second article discusses how the ideal Carnot cycle requires reversible processes and infinite time to achieve theoretical efficiency, and how this model was extended by previous studies to incorporate internal irreversibilities.

Topic: A novel Carnot-based cycle for ocean thermal
energy conversion Basically this model based on the Carnot cycle so try is to exploit the temperature difference that exists in the ocean, knowing that sea surface water is at a higher temperature than depth. Knowing this, studies which helped implement the structure of this heat engine were made, which was called "Cycle capilli" and that was to lead an inert fluid through a turbine. The question is How to produce work this cycle? What happens is that the working fluid as a fluid piston which moves between two isolated cylinders which are connected series with an evaporator which consecutively with a capacitor which works directly with the waters of the deep ocean. Part of the research study was to evaluate different or different types of fluids to determine the working fluid in the cycle, which give us the necessary properties that replace me project needs, such as increased pressure change and greater efficiency this heat engine; After putting in study different types of fluid was reached to determine that, despite not being the most efficient, had the characteristic that the researcher is a high pressure change between the machine focused, came to the conclusion that perfect for investigation fluid is R134a. Topic: Steady- state thermodynamic analysis of a combined Carnot cycle with internal irreversibility As known engine Carnot operates in reversible processes in order to achieve the theoretical efficiency also in this article we talk about that for a finite amount of work required of an infinite time this engine was studied by curzon and Ahlbom this type of model was extended by wu and Xinjiang. These said that Carnot cycle combined endo-reversible outperformed
