Literacy Group Sessions

1L Literacy group sessions are run on a daily basis (M-Th) in the morning session. In this time, students are given the opportunity to read
independently, and with the classroom teacher. They also use this time to practise common sight words and frequent words from their given
book. In addition, students work on a rotation in which they participate in various literacy activities throughout the week such as listening
centre/computers, writing and literacy games. The students are grouped according to ability with the starfish being the most capable and the
jellyfish requiring literacy support. These groups are flexible and are constantly evolving to meet the needs of the students.
