Titanic Journal

Monday, April 8, 1912:

My name is Selma Augusta Emilia Asplund. Im
38 years old. My kids and I will be keeping journals
to write about our thoughts, feelings, and our
amazing voyage to America. My birthday is on
October 10, 1873. I am an English teacher in
Massachusetts. We are now in Sweden. We came to
visit Mum. Our voyage begins on Wednesday. My
husband has bought us tickets to the greatest ship
known to sail the earth. The RMS Titanic. It is 882
ft. and 9 in. It is said to be unsinkable.

Tuesday, April 9, 1912:

I have 5 kids. Theyre names are Fillip,
Clarence, Felix, Carl, and Lillian. Carl and Lillian are
twins. Fillip and Clarence arent doing a journal
because they are my 2 older sons and they think it
is not hip, or whatever kids say these days. I am
not making them write a journal also because they
have great grammar and writing skills and
therefore, they dont have to. Clarence is the baby
in the house and he cant even hold a pen so he
does not have to write a journal write a journal
either. I highly recommended that Carl and Lillian

keep a journal so that they improve their writing

skills and also because it is a great way to keep
good memories.

Here I am, now, sitting in the most luxurious boat.
When I took my first first step onto the great
Titanic, my heart skipped a beat. I love my
husband so much! He always makes me
laugh. When one of the men who works here asked
him where we were going, he mocked his accent
and replied, we aa going tew Massachusetts. He
is very generous to buy us tickets to this boat. Well,
thats enough writing for today. Its time to go
explore the ship!

Thursday, April 11, 1912:

Last night was WONDERFUL! We explored most of
the ship. After that, we headed down to the
common room for supper. Then, it was bed time.
Although I couldnt fall asleep. Now Im super tired
and I feel like I need a nap. I let Carl and Lillian
watch Felix while I had my well deserved nap. Next
thing I lnow, Security Guards are knocking on our
cabin door while holding Carl and Lillian.

Apparently, Carl and Lillian wanted to explore

way beyond limits. My husband and I yelled at
them and put them straight to bed. I am very
disappointed. The one time I trust them, they have
to ruin it.

Friday, April 12, 1912;

It is 10:30 at night and I heard a loud crash which
awakened me. I went out and asked one of the
men what was going on. Ma'am, the ship has hit
an iceburg. Please put on life jackets on
immediately. I rushed back into my cabin telling
everyone to wake up. We all ran to the front deck.
Me and my family got on to the lifeboats. At that
moment, I realized that the man who put us on to
the boat forgot to put my other kids on! NO,
STOP! GIVE ME MY KIDS! AHHHH!!
Here I am now, not on a luxurious boat, Not
enjoying this moment, and most of all, not with my
whole family. We are on lifeboat #15. Who knew
this enormous ship would sink? All of a sudden, I
see lights coming from a direction. It was a boat
called the Carpathia.

Many days later

Many lives were lost and many people lost their
family members. But this teaches us the
importance of family. Rest In Peace Titanic.
