Dear Mr(s) Chief of Police,

Hello my name is Topaz Artis I am a Junior at Virginia State University whom currently in
pursue of Bachelors in Science. I am in the Department Health, Physical Education, and
Dance with a concentration in Health Sciences. As, a citizen of the city of Hampton I would
like to commend you on your job thus far as the chief of police for the city of Hampton.
However, as a citizen I have witness an increase rise in criminal activity within the city of
Hampton. Citizens have been concerned with the high volumes of simple assaults, other
larcenies, and destruction/vandalism of properties. The highest statically value is held by
larcenies. Over the course of the current year the city of Hampton hasnt seen any changes in
the statistics of larcenies. In order for a statistical drop to occur and citizen to find comfort in
the police department things must change.
To instill that comfort the police department should showcase a community outreach
program in which the police department can inform the community they are able to serve and
protect the citizens of Hampton. Through this program citizens should get a full detailed
understanding as to what a larceny is from grand larcenies to petty larcenies. As well as, how
citizens should take the precautionary steps to take to keep larcenies from occurring. Also,
inform the community that statistically the city of Hampton is amongst one of the safest cities
to live in amongst the tidewater region. The community outreach program should be a yearly
event to for community and the police department to work hand and hand.
