Two separate countries

The partition of India
The purpose of this documentary is to acknowledge us about
the partition of the subcontinent. No one knows the complete
history or the accurate factors that led to the partition apart from
the fact that Muslims wanted a separate country. There was much
more than that to this partition and thats what the director of this
documentary is trying to convey.
Before watching this documentary I wasnt really interested in
what my countrys history was to be honest. All I knew was what we
learnt in school. I knew that Quaid-e-Azam was the founder of
Pakistan and he worked day and night to get us a separate nation
but I didnt know the details and the conflicts that occurred back
then. At that time the British were ruling the subcontinent.
Partition of India- In this documentary you learn about the
partition of subcontinent. You learn about how the idea of two
separate nations came to being and you also learn about the
sacrifices made and the treaties that took place. Some of the
important events of the time of partition were Calcutta killing,
Lahore resolution, Lord Mountbatten as viceroy, the fights and
hatred between the Hindus and Muslims, killing of innocent people
etc.
Violence was a huge part of the Partition process and the
interviews shown in these documentaries tell us how the people who
went through these times handled these situations, no one can
explain it better than the people who were there at the time. Some
of the interviewers were talking about their old experiences and how
they killed and shredded blood and were praised by people. They
went to extreme to share their personal stories and that makes the
documentary even more educating.
This video was showing more of the Indian side than the
Pakistani, I liked this video because it gave me information about

Aymen Nadeem
how the country I am living in today came to being and how people
went through such hard times and lost their lives in order to have an
independent state. The history of subcontinent is somewhat
devastating when you learn how many lives were lost and how the
people were treated at the time. I would recommend this
documentary to those be interested in learning about the partition.
