Scholarship Selection Committee,

With great excitement and confidence, I recommend Tess Buchannan for this scholarship
opportunity.
I had the pleasure of meeting Tess last year in my Introduction to Sociology class taught
through College Now. Tess exhibited many attributes that make me confident she will excel
as she continues her education. One of Tesss strengths in my course is that she has a well
established sociological imagination. She is able to draw connections between academic
studies and the world around her. She illustrated this in both her written assignments and her
classroom participation.
Tesss writing was above expectations on every assignment. Her writing was clear and
understandable but was also filled with her unique insight and critical thinking skills. Every
week, I found myself looking forward to reading Tesss reflections.
In classroom discussions, Tess was always ready with insightful and engaging questions.
She offered help and guidance to other students. Tess showed a serious dedication to an
understanding of the course content. I also noticed several times throughout the semester
that Tess made sure to enrich her experience in our class by encouraging other students and
adding insightful comments during our discussions. Our class was better because of Tesss
contributions.
When you take all of these qualities into consideration, it becomes immediately evident
what an amazing student Tess is. She is absolutely deserving of all scholarship opportunities
available. I believe Tess Buchannan has tremendous potential as a student, and I feel quite
confident that she will be an asset to both student life and academics.
