When you look at a primary source
document you should be able to
answer all of the following questions:
1. What type of document is it?
2. What is the date of the document?
3. Who is the author (or creator) of the
document?
4. What is the author's position or title?
5. Describe in detail the purpose or goal of
the document - why was it
written?
6. What can you tell about the time period
based on the document?
