Making Inferences Do:

Say something about the story based on
information that is not direct or explicit

inferences are made using indirect or implicit

information; YOU have to figure something out
your own experiences use empathy (imagining
how you would feel in someone elses place), or
your memories of making inferences in other
texts

Making Inferences Dont:

Invent information
Use information from the text that is direct

or explicit; YOU dont have to figure

something out if it is direct or explicit
Forget to
provide evidence for your inferences
double-check your work
