It is my pleasure to draft this letter of support for Ms. Elizabeth Lee as she applies for a teaching position. I can tout her accomplishments and capabilities in our teacher preparation programI know Elizabeth as a former student in my middle grades science education courses at Middle Georgia State College. In our rigorous and challenging teacher preparation courses, Elizabeth earned excellent grades. Her determination to learn how to develop dynamic and engaging lesson plans infused with digital new media for teaching pre-adolescents set her apart from her classmates. She got along well with her peers and was well-liked by her teachers. Always courteous, personable, and helpful; Elizabeth worked well with classmates in her cooperative groups, and communicated her learning confidently and clearly during microteaching. She has learned much about RTI, differentiating instruction and assessment. Elizabeth demonstrated that she can engage pre-adolescents effectively and provided authentic learning opportunities for her students during four fieldwork experiences in the local schools. Her supervisors reported that she fostered her students critical thinking and reflection skills, infused her lessons with appropriate and engaging electronic technology, promoted independent learning, and scaffolded individual learners with a sensitivity toward diversity and those with special needs. Her enthusiasm and passion for learning with her students and peers is one her strengths. Elizabeth balanced her rigorous class schedule at Middle Georgia State College with active participation in our School of Educations student activities, such as serving as a science fair judge, promoting science via demonstrations at school (Title I) parent nights, serving as a distance mentor for the NESA Virtual Science Fair, and was committed to volunteer work and service to the local community schools. In short, Elizabeth Lee demonstrates competence in teaching inquiry science and mathematics, compassion, caring, and an altruistic attitude. Her exemplary scholarship, self-reflection, and action research skills make her an excellent candidate for a teaching position in your school district. She has added value to serve during extracurricular activities.
