Financial Aid Reflection

1. What financial assistance does the FAFSA offer? Based on your application, do you
qualify for assistance through the FAFSA? If so, how much do you expect to receive
and how will you use this money?
The FAFSA offers much financial assistance such as, Federal Pell Grants, Federal WorkStudy, and Direct Stafford Loans. Based on my application, I do qualify for assistance
through the FAFSA. I expect to receive around $12,000 from the FAFSA. I will use this
money to pay for all my school expenses such as my college tuition, supplies, and fees, as
those are the most important to me to get paid first.
2. Are you eligible to receive the Cal Grant? If so, how much do you expect to receive
and how will you use this money?
I am eligible to receive the Cal Grant. I expect to receive about $4,580; I will use this
money to pay for my books.
3. Are you eligible to receive a Board of Governors Fee Waiver? If so, do you plan on
applying for the BOG Fee Waiver?
I am not eligible to receive a Board of Governors Fee Waiver.
4. Describe your findings from the private scholarship search. Do you plan on applying
to any of the scholarships available? If so, to which are you planning to apply and
how much do you expect to receive if you are accepted?
My findings from the private scholarship search were helpful. However, I noticed that
some of the information given on Naviance in the scholarship search page was incorrect
or not updated. Besides that, my findings helped me get an idea of which scholarships will
help me pay for college. I do plan on applying to any of the scholarships available, and I
have already applied to one. I plan to apply to the Sallie Mae Fun First in My Family
Scholarship, Wal-Mart Scholarship, and the 2015 Student View Scholarship Program. If I
am accepted I expect to receive at least $500 and at most $5,000 from the scholarships.
