MHOME/R/2014/81238 dated 29.10.2014 received by the undersigned on 27.01.2015.
2. It is stated that Public Order is a State subject as per the Seventh Schedule to the
Constitution. Since Public Order is linked to the issue of Conversion, the subject of
“Conversion’® also falls under the purview of the State Governments. Therefore, it is up-to
the Stafé Goverrimant to enact a law on the subject of religious conversion and implement
the same. The Freedom of Religion has been guaranteed under Article 25 of the
Constitution of India, subject to public order, morality and health. No data/statisties is
being maintained centrally regarding Conversion. Therefore, information in this regard
may please be sought from the SPIO of the concerned State Governments
