Conceptual Framework

Figure 1 on the conceptual paradigm illustrates the Smoking Knowledge and Attitudes of
High School Students: A Basis for a Health Education Material. The paradigm shows the main
variables of the study. The first rectangle represents the High school students who are the
respondents of this research. Their profile are grouped according to gender, age, and year level. It
is separately linked to the left rectangle which shows the knowledge and the right rectangle
which represents the attitudes of the respondents. A double headed arrow links both rectangles
and signify to test the relationship between the variables. The relationship will be the basis of the
last rectangle pertaining to the health education material which will be the outcome of the study.
