I am interested in applying for the position of carpenter helper at The Laytons Companies, Inc. I
learned about this opportunity from my construction teacher, Scott DeRuischer who has had the
pleasure with working with your business. Mr. DeRuischer has told me of the quality and

skills and personal traits make me an excellent candidate for this position.
As you will see on my enclosed resume, I completed the construction Technology class at the
ERESA Career Preparation Center during my senior year of high school. As a part of the class I
was exposed to several areas within the construction and carpentry field where I learned a
variety of tasks related to fix, place and install. This experience has given me the confidence
that a career in the field of Construction Tech is the right one for me. I plan to continue my
education at Lansing Community College.
