Question: To what extent do children from dysfunctional families

benefit emotionally from current help schemes? How can we better

help better the current help schemes?
-

Emotional needs
Financial help

Dysfunctional abusive, distant parents

Children suffer most; some dont even know they are in
dysfunctional families.
Financial help, social help
Are we reaching out enough, what else can be done?
OPENING SPEECH:
GOVERNMENT:
- Concerns: how kids from dysfunctional families may also
affect the society e.g. cant contribute much to the society
(School dropouts etc.)
- May contribute to a vicious cycle, how the kids are raised to
become like their (abusive) parents
- Solution: Education, counseling isolating kids and targeting
them for help
VWOs:
- Children may not be willing to open up to VWOs
- Other parties like govt dont take into account of their POV
- Less volunteers now
FAMILIES:
- Generation gap
- Financial background
- Work
- Conflict between parents
CHILDREN:
- Children have to return home even after case is reported
- Would turn to volunteers for help, BUT they are there only
temporarily hard for children to adapt.
ROOT OF THE PROBLEM (dysfunctional families): parents and
thus, we should come up with solutions that target the parents.
