1. Roger Enterprises have their head office and other four offices located at different
places. Bob Roger, the President wants to visit all the offices starting from the Head
Office and return to the same place. He wants to minimize the total distance traveled
and will not visit the same office twice during the trip. Determine the appropriate
sequence for Roger's round trip. The distances from different offices to other places
are given in the following Table:

2. Next Tuesday, Gerald Morris, president of Queen's County National Bank will make
a surprise inspection of each branch office. He plans to leave the home office at 9:00
A.M., have a one-hour lunch break during the day, and return at 5:00 P.M. The
distances are given in the diagram below:
a) In which order should Gerald Morris visit the branches to minimize his total
driving time for the day if he wishes to visit or drive by any branch only once?
b) What is the minimum total driving time?
c) If he wants to spend the same amount of time inspecting each of the four branch
offices, how much time will he be able to spend at each branch?

3. In a machine shop the set up times are dependent on the job presently on the machine
(unloading time) and the job coming up next (loading time). The set up cost based on
the time estimates are given in the following Table. Obtain the sequence that
minimizes the total set up cost.

4. Mr. Harris must make four round trips as shown in the Table between the head office
in Dallas and a branch office in Atlanta.
The price of a round trip ticket from Dallas is $400. A discount of 25% is offered if
the dates of arrival and departure of a ticket span a weekend, Saturday and Sunday. If
the stay in Atlanta lasts more than 21 days, the discount is increased to 30%. A one
way ticket between Dallas and Atlanta (either direction) costs $250. How should
Harris purchase the tickets to minimize the total cost of travel?
