Arthur Chu makes a powerful statement in his article, Its Dangerous To Go

Alone: Why Are Gamers So Angry? In this article, Chu aims to convince his
audience (aimed towards male gamers) of the equality that should be prevalent
among male and female gamers. Chu begins his article with a personal anecdote of
how he proposed to his wife through a video game at a gamers convention to prove
that he himself is experienced and submerged in the gaming world as the rest of his
targeted audience. The use of this anecdote establishes the tone as informal and
relatable, making the rest of the article easier to read. He goes on to describe a
situation in where a male accuses his ex-girlfriend, a female game developer, for
sleeping with one of her writers. Additionally, Chu begins to describe the horrific
threats made towards her, which establishes how harsh the non-feminist side of the
gamer world has become. After contrasting the world of television and movies to
the video game world, Chu makes a statement that video games have always been
seen as a refuge for straight white males, which could possibly be an issue for the
intolerance towards feminism in the gaming universe. This gives a warrant that
most straight white males are against feminism and any other form of equal rights.
Furthermore, the author even goes so far as to state that in this day and age,
gamers have become entitled and belligerent towards female gamers and female

game developers, a statement that most definitely casts a shadow on that side of
the video game world.
