ELACC1W2: Text Types and Purposes: Write informative/explanatory texts in which they name a topic, supply some facts about the topic, and provide some sense of closure. Show them all the different tools they can use, so when hey get to work on their letter, they will understand how to effectively use the program. After explaining all the tools, as a class, form a letter to the principle about what the students are doing in the class. Be sure to mention things like, the greeting of a letter, introduction, body, closing sentence, and signature. Then have the students split up into individual computers or tablets. Have the students start to form their own letters to their parents about what they are doing in class today. Be sure to walk around and make sure all students are on task and formatting their letters correctly. Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): This activity easily reaches a LoTi level 3. It allows the students to learn about the program and then interact with it themselves. To get it up at a LoTi level 4+ try changing around the letter to be more relevant to your classroom.
