Treatment.
Working title: Drugs Are Bad.
Genre: Comedy/Drama. "Happy lemonade time" is the comical element we
included in the production to act as one of the first options that you can
choose between, the decision making and outcome scenes are all classified
as a drama. Therefore the genre of our production is split into 2 categories,
comedy and drama.
Duration: The duration of the finished production should be around 5
minutes in total. (This includes all decisions and outcomes.)
Target audience: The target audience for our production would be young
adults ranging between 15 -25 (this group of people would most likely be in
the audience classification groups ranging from B-E). We would typically be
aiming the film towards both males and females within this age group,
especially towards young males, this is because statistics show that men are
more likely to develop a substance addiction than women.
This product would also be suitable for people of all sexualities and
ethnicities.
Outline: Drugs are bad depicts a that struggle that 3 young adults come to
face once they stumble into the dark world of drugs. Ray-Ray, Nico and Big
Steve all decided to either purchase and try cocaine or buy lemonade and
leaves the drugs alone. If they choose to buy lemonade they have a good
time at the park, and live normal happy lives. If they chose to purchase and
try the cocaine things take a horrible turn. After the gang have their first hit
they decide to take more, leaving one friend with a fatal ending.

The second decision after that is for Ray-Ray to decide whether to get clean
or not. If he chooses to get clean he can either go to rehab and succeed his
goal or relapse and die. However if he chooses to carry on taking cocaine
with friend Big Steve he can soon fin himself dealing rather than buying. If so
this could either lead to him becoming rich of his dealing or falling in to debt
with his drug lord. If he falls into money troubles he can either find a way to
pay the debt back or get murdered by his king pin.
The only good outcome is the choice not to purchase the drugs.
Ray-Ray, the main character is faced with a number of decisions that affect
not only him but the others around him too. Will he succumb to peer
pressure or will he walk away a free man? As the drugs start to take over,
friends begin to become volatile, while others disappear. The deeper Ray-Ray
falls, the harder the decisions become.
This interactive short film allows you to follow them on their journey into the
unknown and help them make decisions that could possibly save them.

Visual elements:

Lighting -

For the scenes that we're going to shoot outside we are going to use mostly
natural light, apart from the few lights that are placed on the roof of the

tunnel. The sunlight and man made lights within the tunnel created a
"redish" glow on the camera, which we will use to our advantage.
For the rest out the scenes we are planning to use the standard lights within
the location we were shooting in. We haven't planned to use any lighting
equipment provided for us throughout our production as most of the scenes
are shot in similar places, we will simply work with the exposer on the
camera to achieve the correct, consistent lighting.

Camera movement.

We plan to move the camera to many different positions and angles

throughout the production. We will also include tracking shots for some of
our scenes, alongside featuring numerous close-ups, establishing shots and
shot-reverse-shots.

Editing

For the main decision making scenes we will include many different shots
and angles such as shot-reverse-shot, close-up, master shot and cutaways to
create our desired action.
We will be using photoshop to create our menus for each choice and
decisions. Each menu will feature interactive buttons that will take you too
your chosen decision. Our actors face will appear on each of the decision
menus as he is the one "supposedly" making the decision.
For our "happy lemonade time" montage, we are planning to use photos and
footage. The shots will be both fast and slowly paced throughout the
montage, as well as possibly having filters and enhancements added. The
montage will also feature a soundtrack to accompany the footage we'll
create alongside sound effects we have chosen.

Settings

IVY LANE TUNNEL: Dark, graffiti filled tunnel, situated near the Chippenham
fire station and local primary school. The tunnels combination of natural and
man made light creates a "redish" glow of light, perfect for our first scene.
The tunnel also look rather grubby and full of rubbish.
THE CREATIVE ROOM: The creative room is situated in the music department
at Chippenham college. The room is brightly painted with few windows but

does include 2 big mirrors, a table and chairs, a sofa and various musical
equipment.
MONKTON PARK: The small children's play area in Monkton park is brightly
coloured and contains apparatus such as swings, slides, see-saws and a
small trampoline. Next to the play area is a small basketball court sounded
by metal railings. The park is opposite a medium sized river and surrounded
by trees and vast pastures of grass.
COLLEGE GARDEN/FENCE/CAR PARK: Small, silver wire fencing surrounding
Chippenham college, by the fire exist in the media department. The area we
plan to film in is the small gap between the bushes next to the fence under
the shade of the near by tree. ( Fire assembly point) The car park opposite
the college is rarely full with cars, it's medium sized car park with old, brown
brick walls surrounding it. Again there are a few trees surrounding the car
park with a view on Monkton park to accompany the background.

Actors

Ray-Ray: Aaron Crosskey

Nico: Bea Davies
Big Steve: Oliver Sands
Killer: Bea Davies. (After Nico's/Bea's death scene early on in the film, she
will then take on the roll of our killer later on in one of the final outcomes.)

Props

One of our main props will be a small patch of cling film and a few small
pouches of white sugar. This will be put together to act as a bag of cocaine in
many of our scenes. Alongside this we will also need bank/credit cards and
bank notes to help build the scene.
Another main prop that we need to include is a trick blade for our ending
scene as well as a fair amount of fake blood. (For more than one scene).
A mobile phone will also be needed for our first decision's outcome.
We will also need many bottles of lemonade for our "Happy lemonade time"
monatge. Probably about 3 bottles. (One for each character).

Costumes

Ray-Ray's costume will be the basic look of dark grey/black tracksuit

bottoms, trainers, a blue t-shirt and a black zip up hoodie.
Nico's costume will consist of a pair of light skinny jeans, a pale pink jumper
and wollen hat. As well as wearing a pair of basic converse.
Big Steve's costume is made up of a dark pair of jeans (not skinny but not
bootcut/flared. Most likely straight leg.) A plain white t-shirt with a light blue
washed shirt to go on top. His shoes will be a smart but practical pair of
brown shoes, alongside a black petty coast.
Bea/Killer's costume will simply be a pair of dark skinny jeans, a dark
coloured hoodie, t hide her face and a pair of plain plimsolls.
Audio elements:

Soundtrack

We have decided to use "The Beatles, Lucy in The Sky with Diamonds" to
play in the background of our characters drug induced trance. We thought
this was an appropriate choice that fitted in really well with the theme of the
production.
We have also decided to include a happy, upbeat song for our "Happy
lemonade time" montage. This may be a famous song that relates well to the
theme of the montage or again we may stumble across a piece that we like
will searching for royalty free soundtracks.

Effects (Foley)

The only sound effect that we will probably use will be a simple popping
sound that we will feature at the end of our "Happy lemonade time"
montage. This sound will be the pop of the lemonade bottle cap coming off
the lemonade bottle.

Music

We plan to use a number of different royalty free tracks to accompany many

of a scenes, this is to heighten the overall professionalism of the finished
product as well as or the building of a scene purposes.

Locations: We are planning to use many different locations for our shoot.
My team and think that Ivy lane tunnel is the perfect setting for our story to
take place as it depicts the dark and dingy alleyway we planned our drug
deal to happen in. The creative room is also a good set for the drug taking
scene because the table within the room allows us to feature all 3 actors in a
variety of different shots in another mini montage that we are planning to
feature, it also has a sofa which is perfect for the come-down scene. Monkton
park for our "Happy lemonade time " montage is a good location because a
park is often seen to be a place full of happiness and laughter, using this
setting while provide the audience with the emotional response we are trying
to achieve in this montage. A sunny day would also help to build up the
setting as again it makes the shot look more upbeat and brighter. The car
park is a good place for our final drug deal/death scene to take place, this is
because it's in a good open space, making the death of Ray-Ray unexpected. Also drug dealing outside of a college is highly un-likely again
making the death scene more of a surprise.
Constraints and contingency:
Some constraints that the team and I may face in possible intervention from
the public, this could either be because of the locations we are filming in or
because of the nature of the content we are filming. As a crew we will have
to be careful in making it clear that we aren't actual dealing or possessing
any drugs to maintain the welfare of each member in our team. When it

comes to contingency it's a simple case of watching the weather and trying
to predict the best days to shoot as well as having a back up shoot date if
the weather isn't on our side. The same applies for any problems we may
face with missing crew/cast and shoot dates suddenly becoming unavailable.
Legal and ethical considerations:
Some legal considerations that we will have to be aware of is possible
copyright issues surrounding any soundtracks we may feature within our
production. Alongside this we will have to make sure that the nature of the
content we produce is suitable for our target audience and we will also have
to make sure that the nature of the content wont affect any of the viewers
physical and mental wellbeing. With regards to the drug use taking place in
the project we will have to clarify that the drug use if entirely fictional and
the cast or crew did not possess any drugs of any type at in time while
filming our production.
