UNIT-I
GENERAL MANAGEMENT: Principle of scientific management, brief treatment of
managerial functions.
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT: The personnel function, staff role of personnel department,
personnel functions, job analysis, job design, techniques for making job design as
motivational.

UNIT- II
FORMS OF BUSINESS ORGANISATON: salient features of solo-proprietor-ship,
partnership, joint-stock company, private limited and public limited companies.
RELIABILITY-definition, failure rate, reliability system evaluation, combined reliability,
redundancy.
UNIT- III
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: Concept of interest, simple interest, compound interest,
equivalent cash flow diagrams, interest formulas, present & future worth of single amounts,
uniform series to its present and future worths, deferred annuities, deferred annuities,
uniform gradient series, economic evaluation of alternative-Basic methods-the annual
equivalent methods, present worthy method, future worth methods, depreciation
purpose, types-straight line, declining balance, sum of years digits methods.
UNIT-IV
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT :
Types of production systems, Product analysis, brief treatment of functions of production
planning & control, value analysis, inspection& quality control, control charts-X,R,P & C
charts, Acceptance sampling, O.C.Curve.
UNIT-V
MATERIAL MANAGEMENT: Purchasing objective, source selection, vendor rating,
procurement methods.
INVENTORY CONTROL: Definition, relevant costs, simple E.O.Q model with constant
demand & without shortages, ABC analysis
MARKETING MANAGEMENT: Functions of marketing, product life cycle, pricing & pricing
methods, channels of distribution, advertising & sales promotion, market research.
