Lift the table guard by removing the bolts located at the edge of the rotary top plate. Remove the lower mud ring. (4 Bolts only. See Rotary Parts Drawing). Omit on the 20} Rotary. Remove the elastic stop nuts which fasten the hold=down ring to the base. These nuts are located on the underside of the base. Lift the table away from the rotary bas table and then placing the two bushing attachment to a block and tackle. It is best to lock the master bushing in the 1g handles in the bushing, os a means for Place the table upside down on the floor. Remove the capscrews which hold the bearing support ring to the table and remove the support ring. Note shims. Remove lower race. Remove lower balls and ball spacer. Remove middle race. Remove upper balls and ball spacer. Remove hold down ring. «The upper race may be removed by driving wedges between the race and table in ebout three (3) places. Gently warm the race if necessary. REPLACING THE MAIN BEARING Reverse the procedure given above by installing upper race, hold down ring, upper ball ‘and spacer, middle race, lower balls ond spacer, lower race and bearing support ring. Replace only obout 4 capscrews in support ring. The main bearing assembly should be .002" to .006" loose. This can be adjusted by the shims between the toble andthe bearing support ring. « Replace the remaining support ring bolts except those which hold the lower mud ring Turn the table right side up in the base with the flat of the hold down ring at the pinion gear. Take out the copscrews (C) holding the cover plate to the: capsule, and remove the cover plate (D). 2. Drive the oil seal (E) out of the coverplate and drive in a new oil seal by top~ ping lightly around the periphery. DO NOT distort the new seal for smeshit by too severshanmerblows. 3. When oxembling the cover plate with new ail seal back into position, take care not to domage the sealing lip of the seal REMOVING THE CAPSULE Any other repairs to the capsule assembly will necessitate = moving the copsvle from the rotary bore. 1. Remeve the elastic stop nuts which hold the capsule to the bore. 2. The coptule con now be removed horizontally from the bore in the base. IF the capsule fits tight, it can be started ‘out by serewing in on the two Allen Head Jack Screws provided for this purpose on the flanged part of the capsule. REPLACEMENT OF THE CAPSULE BEARINGS IDECO Roterieshave 2 straight rollerbearing in the sprocket end ofthe copsule. A double tapered roller beating is uted on the pinion end, rn THE PINION END BEARINGS 1, Remove the six hex head cop screws which hold the pinion endcoverplote to the capsule. 2. With the sprocket off the shaft, remove the shaft with pinion, caver plate, pinion end beating from the copsule body. (The sprocket end bearing inet race which is shrunk ontothe shaft will came out withthe shaft.) 3. Press the pinion andpinion end bearing off the shoft by fitting ‘piece of pipe over the shaft ond ogainst the inner race of the beoring. Then press the shoft through both members. A press af approximately 25-ton capacity will be required REPLACING THE PINION END BEARINGS ‘A Double Tapered beating is used in the pinion end. 1. Heat the bearing components to 9 temperature of 250° F in ail or withsteam inorder to shrinkthemon the shaft. 2. Press the beating up to the shoulder on the shat, REMOVING THE SPROCKET END BEARING To temove this bearing, the capsule mutt be removed from the ratery base, and the pinion shalt moat be removed from the cop= sule, 0s mentioned earlier, The inner race of this beoring being Shrunk on, will come ovt with the shaft cut with @ torch or driven off 1, Remove the six hex heod capicrews which hold the cover plotetothe capsule onthe sprocket end. 2. Replace copscrews, tighten cond wire. 5. Reploce sprocket end cover plate to copsule body, replace copscrews, tighten ond wire. The capsule is now ready for sembly to the rotery base, Note the dowel on the capsule flange: this fits @ hale on the face of the bose so that the capsule may be locatedin the proper position Next, the coprule mutt be held in correct relation with table 39 thegears will esh forthe full width. The movnting distance for the pinion is stompedon the face of the pinion. Thi fs the dist= tance measured from the center of the rotary bate to the face of the pinion gear. Shins placed berweon the copsule flange ond the rotory base make ix possible to meintoin this correct movnling distonce.
