Lisa Cox, A Spoonful of Sugar,

2008. For Personal Use Only.

This quick to make passport protector, will keep your

passport pristine and is the perfect travel accessory for
the stylish traveller! The cover opens like a book to
reveal two clear plastic compartments for storing two
passports. (Based on Australian Passport size of 3.5 x 5
inches).

1.Cut the fabric into the following pieces:

Fabric 1 (floral):
4 x 8 inches (cover)
1 x 8 inches (inside binding)
Fabric 2 (spot):
6 x 8 inches (lining)
1 x 8 inches (cover)
Clear Tablecoth plastic:
4 x 8 inches
Interfacing:
4 x 8 inches
1 x 8 inches
2. Iron the interfacing to the two pieces of fabric that will form the cover.
3. Stitch the two cover pieces of fabric together to make a piece of fabric that is 6 x 8 inches. Press seam
open. Topstitch on either side of seam.

4. Take the strip of fabric that is to be used for the binding, and press it in half lengthways with the wrong
sides together. Open this out and press both long edges into the centre line and press. You should have a strip
of double folded fabric that is inch wide. Insert the piece of plastic into the binding strip and sew in place
using two rows of topstitching.

5. Position the plastic on top of the lining piece with the bottom of the plastic and the bottom of the lining
piece in alignment. Using a basting stitch, baste around the perimeter of the lining piece to hold the plastic in
place. Be sure to stitch close to the edge.
6. Position the lining on top of the cover fabric with right sides together. Sew around the perimeter of the
cover, leaving a 2 inch gap for turning at the top. Clip curves and carefully turn right side out.
7. Carefully press the cover. Avoid ironing directly on the plastic.

8. Topstitch around the perimeter of the cover inch from the edge. Sew down the middle of the cover to
create two plastic pockets.
