Working Drawings and Assemblies

Fall2005- ENGR 3200U

Working Drawings
Working Drawings are the complete set of standardized
drawings specifying the manufacture and assembly of a
product based on its design

Generally, a complete set of working drawings

for an assembly includes:
1) Detail Drawings of each nonstandard part
2) An assembly or subassembly drawing showing all the standard
and nonstandard parts in a single drawing.
3) A bill of materials (BOM)
4) A title block
Standard pats: parts such as threaded fasteners, bushings and bearings

Contents of Assembly Drawings

1) All the parts, drawn in their operating positions
2) Part list or BOM, part name and number, detail number, quantity,
standard number, material, descriptions
3) Leader lines with balloons
4) Manufacturing/assembly operations and critical dimensions
related to these functions, e.g. , RECOMMENDED INSTALATION
TORQUE 45-50 Nm
Notes: No dimension in assembly; unless to provide the overall size
or necessary dimensions for machining/assembly operations
Types of assembly drawings: Outline assembly, sectioned assembly, pictorial
