1.2.1 Points to Note on Installation
Ac install the FAX unit after installation of the host
machine is completed.
A. Be sure to perform the following steps in order
With the host machine before installing the FAX unit.
‘The hard disk drive may be broken if these steps are
performed in wrong order and the host machine shuts
down during an access to the hard disk drive as a
resul.
1, Press the power switch on the control panel for

2, Follow the shutdown sequence sereen to operate the
touch pane! so that the main power switch will be
ready for OFF.
3. Turn OFF the main power switch,

1.2.2 Making the Host Machine
Ready for Installing the FAX.
Unit
1) Remove the 14 screws [I], and detach the rear
cover [2].
2) Remove the cassettes 1 and 2 [1], and detach the 4
screws [2] to remove the left cover (lower) (3.3) Remove the 2 screws [1], and detach the left cover
(rear) 2}.

4) Open the upper front cover [1].

7) Follow the directions in the fig. below to remove
the inside bottom cover [1].
5) Remove the blanking rubber [1], and detach the
setew [2] (binding screw: Méx8) and the serew [3]
(RS screw: M3x8); follow the directions in the fig.
below fo remove the front cover uit [4].
8) Remove the left grip (Iron!) [1] downward while
releasing the 2 claws [2]; likewise, remove the left
rip (rea) (3).
6) Remove the 4 serews [1], and detach the left cover:
fo}19) Attach the 2 cable clips (large) [1] and the 5 eable
clip (small [2] included in the package to the holes
oon the rear side plate of the host machine.
10) Remove the option power supply unit [1]
temporarily to make the installation work easier.
The steps for removing the option power supply
unit are as follows.
10-1) Detach the cables connected to the option power
supply unit [I] fom the 3 cable clips (2), and
disconnect the 7 connectors (3)
10-2) Remove the 5 serews [1], and detach the option
power supply unit (2).

1.2.3 Attaching the FAX Unit
1) Remove the protective packing [1] and the tape
from the FAX unit,

4) Fix the Fax unit with the 3 screws [1] included in
the package. (Using long screwdriver.)

1.2.6 Connecting the Modular Cable
1) Ansert the modular cable 1] included inthe package
into the connector [2] ofthe PAX wnit
4) Connect the FAX cable tothe connectors [1] [2] on
the main controller PCB,

2) Pass the modular cable [1 through the 3 cable clips
(mall) [2] and the edge cable clip (upper) {3}.
1.2.5 Attaching the Modular Unit
1) Remove the 2 serews [1] om the side plate of the
controller box, and detach the blanking plate (2];
attach the modular unit [3] to the same position
using the 2 serews (1] (used for fixing the blanking
plate).
Memo? No need for fixing the reuse band {2] of the
‘modular cable [1] to the sheet metal of the
main body since the band is mounted in order
to limit the position movement of the core

1) Connect the FAX power cable 1} included in the
package tothe connector [2] ofthe FAX unit

4) Pass the modular cable [1] through the 2 cable clips
[2} and the edge cable clip 3], then pass it through
the 3 cable clips (4) (atthe bottom of the controller
box).
2) Pass the FAX power cable [1] through the 2 cable
clips (small [2] and the edge cable elip (lower) [3].
3) Connect the FAX power cable [1] to the connector
[2] on the conteoller power PCB,
Ay Do not use the cable clip [1], which is mounted on
the supporting sheet metal of the modular board,
to fix the modular cable [2]. Ifyou do, the modu-
lar cable might be broken due tothe load.4.2.8 Attaching the Speaker Unit connect the other side of the modular cord to the
modular jack (*LINE 1") for line of the host

In this section, make only minimum settings required for FAX communication,

1.3.3 Communication Test
Perform a communication test to see ifthe Fax functions properly work.

document; make sre that the document is properly sent.
4) Senda test document fom the other machine ofthe communication test, and make sure that the machine properly
