To Whom It May Concern,
This letter is in regards to my application for the posted position of Law Enforcement Academy
Instructor in your police training academy. My desire to become an instructor and leader comes
from firm values that are part of who I am as an individual. At every stage in my educational
experiences, I was encouraged by my teachers and given all the support I need to succeed with
the goals I set for myself. My desire is and has always been to give back to others in a similar
manner.
While serving in the US Navy, I learned to be a dynamic leader and teacher by living by the
personal mantra that No mountain is ever the high to conquer. Since then, I have conquered
several mountains through promotions while serving my country, fighting dangerous fires as a
firefighter, saving lives though cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR and many other
experiences. Through these experiences, you can be assured that I have learned how to be a
dynamic leader and teacher who has been recognized by several employers for my professional
performances. All of my professional training and experiences required a superb sense of
judgment, prioritization, and a high level of responsibility as well as calmness and initiative.
Through these experiences, I have developed self-discipline, stress tolerance and excellent
communication skills.
Indeed, these are all skills that would help me be successful in building excellent relationships
with my students in the Law Enforcement Academy. Adding to that, these are the types I skills I
would hope to instill in other police officers. Ive learned a great deal about how best adults
learn, much of it through the firsthand experience of being and adult learner myself.
I hope that you would consider my application, and I thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Kevin Rounds
