DENTAL CARE

&
ORAL HYGIENE

What Makes Tooth a Tooth?

Enamel- White outermost

calcified, hard surface which is

stronger than even bone and
covers the crown part of a tooth
Dentin- Inner surface directly
beneath enamel which is less
calcified and becomes visible
with excessive wear to the teeth.
Pulp- Inner most part of the tooth
which houses the nerve and blood
supply to the tooth. Damage to
pulp by any means could cause
the tooth to die.

TOOTH DECAY(DENTAL CARIES)

Bacteria in the presence of sugary substance
produce acid that causes demineralization of
teeth(dental decay). Enamel is affected first, as
decay continues it reaches to dentin and then to
pulp.
PLAQUE
Plaque is a sticky film that forms on your teeth
from the bacteria, food, and saliva in your
mouth.
It can cause dental decay and gum diseases.
