You are advised to spend about 45 minutes in this section
Question 1
You have been asked by your teacher to give a talk on a reference book that is useful for
the secondary students. You have decided to give a talk about a science book.
Use the following notes about the book to write your talk

When writing the talk, you should remember:

to use an appropriate greeting and closing


to state the purpose of the talk Point 1
to use all the notes given
to give two other reasons of your own - Point 11 and Point 12
that the talk is for school students

*Previous knowledge: All the sequence and logical connectors used in the writing task
sheet.
Steps to teach extremely weak students:
1. Label each point with numbers and instruct students to group the points as
follows: Point 1 is the title/purpose of the talk/speech [Para 1]
Point 2,3 and 4 [Para 2]
Point 5,6,7 and 8 [Para 3]
Point 9,10, 11 and 12 [Para 4]
2. Go through instruction and overall question with students.
3. Teach students to write the greetings/introductory paragraph of a talk/speech
4. Teach the following sentence pattern to help students at forming complete
sentences

5. Sentence pattern i. :Instruct students to fill in the blank with title, author and
publisher [Para 2]
6. Add on every point [Point 5- 12] to sentence pattern ii

[Point 8].
