Web Drama Pitch

By Charlie Veitch, Alex Kiely,

Chris Leontiou and Tj Cifaldi

Initial Idea 1 - Maverick

Our first idea is of a crime web drama
which starts off with a 30 second intro
with clips of the characters from the
programme and the names of the
actors who play them. After this we will
show the opening minute of the
episode which will include the main
character who is a detective having an
argument with one of his superiors as
he has been acting like a maverick.

Initial Idea 2 Hardline

Our second idea is also a crime web
drama, this idea will go straight into
the opening minute and a half and is of
the main character who is a detective
interrogating a suspect about a case
involving a child that has been
abducted. This idea will not include
any intros or scenes to introduce the
episode

Initial Idea 3 The

investigator
Our third idea includes a private investigator as
the main character. The episode starts off with
clips from the previous episode, reminding
viewers of the clips which were crucial to
remember. The main storyline to the web drama
is that the P.I. is hired by a wife to investigate
her husband as she suspects he may be
cheating, whilst investigating the husband the
P.I. realises he is in way over his head as he
discovers the man has become deeply involved
in the distribution of drugs on a large scale.

We created a poll to find out which of our ideas were

the most popular with our target audience, the results
show that the most popular idea was idea 1, because
of this we decided to base this around our final idea.

Final Idea A Liars Game

(Context)
Nathan Cole found his family murdered at the age of nine,
he carried it with him for throughout his life. The murderer
was arrested and put away for life. He strived to help
people but also got involved with local gangs, he
managed to distance himself from them in time and
decided to join the police force and become a detective.
Nineteen years after his family was murdered another
family is murdered the exact same way and he comes to
the realisation that the police arrested the wrong man
and the person who killed his family is still out there. This
sends Cole on a downward spiral involving drugs, hookers
and violent criminals from his past. He decides to take on
the case and catch the man who killed his family.

Final Idea Layout

The episode we will be filming is series 1 episode
8, this will be a two-parter along with episode 7
The first 40 seconds of the web drama will feature
short clips from the previous episodes to remind
viewers of the suspense and information they need
to retain.
Following on from this we will include a 30 second
title sequence that will name the cast and crew of
the show.
Then we will delve straight into the actual episode.

Mood board

Inspiration from our Mood

board
The images shown on the previous
slide is the inspiration behind our final
idea. TV shows like Luther and
Sherlock gave us the initial idea to do
a crime/detective show and other
shows like True Detective and Seven
gave us more ideas which we added
into our final idea.

Target Audience
Our final target audience for our show is both
males and females of the ages of 16-30, this is
because we plan to use complex storylines which
also include some violent scenes which may not be
suitable for viewers of younger ages. The reason
we have set a maximum target audience age is
that most people over the age of 30 will more than
likely have never heard of Blip TV, because of this
we are able to streamline our idea with people
aged 16-30 by creating entertainment which is
best received by this particular target audience.

USP
The USP our idea will have is that we
will use Inter-textual links to other
media texts because if the audience
can spot these they will feel more
involved in the show and the viewer
will find this more entertaining.
