Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston Office of the Auxiliary Bishop February 2, 2015 Re: Fundraising and Second Collection Activity Dear Vietnamese Pastors, Priests, Deacons, Business Managers, and Parish Community: Once again the issue of fundraising in the Vietnamese Community has come to my attention, You may remember that this issue was previously addressed in my letter dated July 14, 2014. T had hoped that my directive was understood. However, recently I was informed that Father Hoang Trinh, OFM was planning a fundraising activity on March 1* of this year. Father Trinh asked and received permission to celebrate a memorial Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, The topic of fundraising in the Houston Area was never discussed nor granted. Hence, Father Trinh does not have the authorization to do any fundraising in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. I want to reiterate that any and all fundraising activities and second collections not related to needs of the parish or the archdiocese, may not take place without written permission from the Archdiocesan Bishops. Should you have a particular need, please notify this office before discussing ot pursuing any type of fundraising in your parish, Should you hear of any attempt to otganize an activity, I ask that you please alert this office | trust this will be the last time this issue is addressed. We cannot abuse the generosity of people who already share so much of their time, talent, and treasure with others. ‘Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this important matter. Sincerely in Christ, Dang A dak Most Rev. George A. Sheltz Auxiliary Bishop and Chancellor GAS/dl 1700 SAN JACINTO © P.O. BOX 907 * HOUSTON, TEXAS 77001 * 713/659-5461 * FAX 713/759-9151
