1.

)Be Respectful in the Classroom:

-This means that you should not talk or otherwise get off task during
lecture portions of the class, but it also means that you should listen to
other students class questions/presentations with the same respect
which you would show to the teacher. We are all engaged in the same
enterprise, and should maintain a spirit of mutual respect as we work
toward a common goal.

2.)No Electronics or Other Distractions:

-Students will be asked to keep electronics off and out of sight, and will
be entrusted with this as responsible agents. However, if the teacher
observes three violations of this rule in a week, students will be
required to deposit their cell phones and other electronics in an
organizer at the beginning of class.

3.)Come to Class Prepared:

-Classroom time is limited, and would be best spent in recitation,
practice, and collaborative work, rather than in a long lecture on
material which is already presented in the book. Therefore, students
will be expected to have read their assignments before coming to
class, so that we can maximize the time spent on interactive practice.
Failure to do so produces its own negative consequence, in that
students will be unable to make the most of the learning opportunities
in class, and will have to work harder on homework and similar
assignments.

4.)Stay Engaged and Ask Questions!

-As explained above, the classroom is the ideal place to practice the
skills presented in the readings. Especially when learning a language,
large progress is made through interactive learning. Take full
advantage of the collaborative environment to answer all of the
questions which you could not settle on your own!
