) I will greet each student at the door, with a roster in hand; after confirming
that they are at the right classroom, I will show them in. If they are in the
wrong place, I will direct them to the correct room.
2.) Students will fill seats in a sequential order as they enter the room. Seating
arrangement will be considered for subsequent classes, if that order proves to
be problematic.
3.) Rules will be posted clearly on the wall. Students will be given a handout as
they enter the classroom outlining rules/procedures/etc.
4.) See above students will be provided with a handout which outlines the
procedures and assignments which can be expected throughout the year. The
teacher will explain and model the most important of these on the first day.
5.) Grading standards will be displayed on the provided handout, but the teacher
will conduct an interactive class discussion about grading standards to ensure
that all students understand grading standards/expectations.
6.) The first day of class will feature an activity in which students take turns
introducing themselves, explaining some important biographical information,
and explaining their reasons for taking Latin. I will introduce myself first both
to make a personal connection with the students, and to model the activity
for them.
7.) Students will be greeted personally with a handshake at the door, and asked
for their input throughout the class period. Students will also be encouraged
to talk with the teacher after class if they have any remaining
questions/concerns.
