Joint Statement

We believe that the aim of the ICT integration project is to create a four lesson WebQuest on a
chosen subject area linked to the Australian Curriculum. In doing this the purpose of the project is to
encourage student-centred learning through seamlessly integrating the use of a variety of different
ICT resources into the lessons that the students will be required to use to complete the WebQuest.
Using ICT merely as a substitute to other learning styles limits the effectiveness of the technology.
The purpose is to redefine learning through the use of ICT by allowing it create new ways for
students to learn and to be involved in the learning experience. When technologies are used in this
way that is when ICT is being utilised to its full potential.
The planning stage of the integration project involves the formation of a detailed lesson plan for one
of the lessons (the lesson that the presentation relates to) and a forward planning document for the
remaining three lessons showing the flow of the lessons and how they relate to the Australian
Curriculum. We will also present one of the lessons to our peers which will incorporate the use of
different ICTs in a teaching context.
The final stage of the project is to publish the WebQuest on the internet in a form and at a level that
the targeted age group will understand and be able to interact with. The purpose is for the students
to relate to a meaningful and real-world problem in a novel and engaging way through the four
lessons activities and to use the knowledge and skills gained to create something of their own.
