Language Proficiency Test Overview

Activity: Live interpretation
Each VerbalizeIt translator MUST follow these six tactics in order to ensure a great experience for our
customers. Please read them VERY CAREFULLY. This list is also available for you to review again in
your Translator Community.
1. Please ensure that you are in a quiet place when you start a call.
2. Always start a translation the same way: You should start every translation with the words
"VerbalizeIt Ready to Translate". This tells the caller that he can now start speaking.
3. Confirm that both sides can hear you. If not, either ask to be put on speaker phone, or ask that the
phone be handed over to the other party.
4. Always translate in the first person: For example, My name is.. or I need...
5. Attempt to provide word-for-word interpretations, but modify where context changes across
languages: You are amazing because you understand nuances on both sides of the language barrier.
Be as accurate as you can in translations, but provide alternate phrases that will best get the
message across when a literal translation may not be ideal.
6. Always end the call the same way: You should be clear when the translation is ending by saying
Thanks for calling VerbalizeIt.
