Personal Philosophy of Education

I aim to inspire curiosity by finding creative ways to introduce new

concepts and help children develop their problem solving, exploration and
critical thinking skills. In my classroom I want to set the stage for a lifelong
appreciation for reading and writing and proficiency in those areas amongst
others through well rounded lessons that are multidisciplinary. My classroom
will be student centered, inquiry driven, and allow for investigation and
problem solving with as much direct experience as possible. Students have
multiple intelligences, therefore have multiple ways for learning and I will
strive to cater to that. I will spark the creativity in my students and they will
develop an appreciation for the arts, unleashing their creative imaginations
through their work. Whether this is through writers workshop or the
wholesome projects that will integrate the many academic subjects that
students have to learn yet there isnt the time within a school day to allow it.
Math is essential for daily life and I will help students who may struggle with
it, succeed and learn to love math as much as I do
I value the diversity that may class will undoubtedly bring, and I
believe in continuing that theme within the classroom. I want to help my
school be an effective community and build a sense of community with the
parents of my students. According to the sociocultural theory, children from
various cultures have different views on reading and writing. Having
culturally welcoming classrooms will ensure all students are provided with an
equal opportunity to thrive and will continue to grow and learn as well.
I expect my students to do and give their best, with freedom to explore
and discover on their own so that they can satisfy their self- actualizing
needs. As a teacher I have to be and will be innovative, inspiring and
inspired, motivated, flexible, compassionate and most importantly, loving. I
will love and cherish every one of my students and discover what it is that
makes each child unique and build upon that. I plan on making a difference
in their lives and I look forward to seeing my students grow as learners and
as people.
I believe students need to be stakeholders in their education and have
high expectations for me as the teacher. The students job is to flourish, and
that choice is theirs. However, the classroom setting is one that makes that
goal achievable and the choice obvious.
