A Soldiers Doubt
Preparing for battle, I tense up afraid,
No one to comfort, or reassure me;
I only have my God to come to my aide,
And all I want is to flee cowardly,
At last, I come to the resolution:
Im fighting for the slaves who should be freed,
And, with faith, I am who they entrust in;
My valient efforts will back their need.
They are the reason I am doing this,
But something stills looms in my forlorn head.
Like Im falling, into a deep abyss:
An absolute feeling of loss and dread.
I worry about what has met those whove fought,
For you all, nor myself, have a free thought.
