Description of how to implement in the class:
Teacher will begin lesson by showing a BrainPOP video about the three branches of
government. Students will be asked to fill out skeleton notes with what they learned
from the video. After, the class will be split into three groups. Each group will be
assigned a branch of government. The students will fill out a KWL chart with their
group and hang it in the class for display. The class together will briefly go over what
the students have put on their charts. Students will then, on their own as an
assessment, will access Inspiration from the classroom computers. A template is
provided on the Inspiration software titled Branches of Government.ist under the
Social Studies section in templates. Students will fill out the graphic organizer on
their own with the information they have learned about the three branches of
government. Students will save the document as a .pdf and print it out to hand in to
the teacher.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi):
This lesson is a Level 3 in the LoTi level because technology is used and is central to
the classroom instruction, addresses up to the mid-ranges of Blooms Taxonomy, and
shows a shift towards constructivist learning.
