Denying the Enemy
The artist flies above the canvas,
a canvas made up of tiny bumps and grooves.
His brush strokes are swift and precise.
The paint: like explosions of color.
His work is despised by his opponents,
despised so much that they hate.
Away with him, they say, away with him,
he does nothing but harm.
Away with him, they say, away with him,
they cry with shouts of alarm.
While the artist denies the foe with his abstract masterpiece,
the enemy concludes the performance
with a defining note of peace
