Communication Plan

Daniel Sorrow
To develop a well functioning communication plan between the students parents
or legal guardian, I will send home on the first day a letter to the parents
welcoming their child to my class. This letter will contain a brief overview of what
they could expect their child to create and learn from my class, and how their
child is expected to act in school and in my classroom. They will receive a rubric
that shows them how their child will be graded throughout the time they take the
class. This note will also have my email, and any additional ways they can get in
touch with me. Also this letter will contain a list of materials needed, and other
materials that are optional that the student needs to be provided with to create
the best work that they can do.
Attached to this letter would be another sheet for parents to fill out and have their
child return to me. This sheet will require the parent/guardian to write down their
contact information, and a short summary of their childs strengths and
weaknesses that they believe will help aid in the teaching of their child. They
should have this signed and returned ASAP, and/or they will be given the option
to send me the information via email.
Mr. Sorrows Art Class
Teachers information
I earned my degree in Art Education (cert. K-12) at Lander University in
2014. Art is something that I feel can help students express their creative
abilities in the most productive way, and explore may possibilities and
unknown concepts that will make an individual a more well-rounded
functioning person of society. When Im not teaching art, I take part in
hobbies such as staying active, playing soccer, hunting and fishing, and
working on my own personal art.
Supplies (can differ depending on what the school can provide)
Pencils
Sketchbook(s)
Colored pencils or crayons (depending on age of students)
Any additional forms of media the student may wish to explore
Discipline
Students will be disciplined as followed by the rules set by the school
handbook, and additional rules posted in my classroom. All rules and
consequences art in the handbook and/or posted in the classrooms.

Students with consistent good behavior will be rewarded multiple forms of

positive reinforcement. The encouragement of good behavior will be
stressed at all times.
Grading of projects
Students will be graded based on the effort put forth in their work, their
