The History
TheHistory of Sydneybegins in prehistoric times with the occupation of the
district byAustralian Aborigines, whose ancestors came to Australia between
45,000 and 60,000 years ago. The modern history of the city began with the
arrival of aFirst Fleetof British ships in 1788 and the foundation of a penal
colony by Great Britain.

backwaters to picturesque rivers and gorges, Sydney offers many places to paddle.

The building also houses a recording studio, cafes, restaurants and bars and retail outlets. Guided tours are available,
including a frequent tour of the front-of-house spaces, and a daily backstage tour that takes visitors backstage to see
areas normally reserved for performers and crew members.
