It has been three weeks or so since I wrote the Ombudsman and you about the fact CBC
provides a platform for racism. This continues to be the case. There is not context level
moderation of remarks targeting Indigenous Peoples on your CBC Aboriginal site. I find
this tolerance for overt racist opinions peculiar for a National Broadcaster. It is doubly
peculiar that when I or one of my Indigenous or non-Indigenous allies call the racists on
their racist comments, we get censored. N I am having a blast ridiculing your
Corporation on Twitter. The oxymoronic state of a public broadcaster targeting the
Indigenous market with a website and articles on Aboriginals allows anonymous people
to ridicule and make racist comments against the target audience with impunity.
I dont understand your inertia. The situation is far from okay. I am upping the
campaign this week and will be in touch with the UN asking that the special Rapporteur
look at the role the CBC plays in hindering reconciliation between Canadians and
indigenous Nations. I have all the screen captures and correspondence needed to make a
case.
I also give money to the Friends of the CBC. I will be in touch with the organization to let
them know I can no longer support their efforts. I will cite your complete apathy about
the issue of unfettered racism being permitted on your news sites.
This is a very serious matter. It deserves immediate attention.
