To Whom It May Concern:
I have been Maureen (Molly) Dugdales Simmons College Practicum Supervisor for the school
year, 2014-2015. Molly is a candidate for Educator Licensure, Moderate Special Needs, Grades
5-12, in Massachusetts. Molly has been at the Landmark School, a private school for students
with language-based learning disabilities, in Beverly, Massachusetts, since August, 2011. Molly
teaches biology as well as one-on-one language arts tutorials.
Molly develops lesson plans based on the Massachusetts Frameworks. When planning her
lessons, Molly includes individual modifications and accommodations to meet her students
needs. Mollys lesson objectives are explicit with measurable outcomes. Every lesson includes
multi modal learning experiences that engage students and ensure that all students meet the
lesson objectives.
Molly teaches her lessons in a very effective manner. Molly develops the biology curriculum she
teaches. Molly builds on her students experiences and prior knowledge. Each lesson contains
many activities which support student learning and give students multiple opportunities for
success. When observing in Mollys classroom, one immediately senses a positive atmosphere.
Her students feel comfortable and safe. Molly encourages students to ask and answer
questions. Students listen attentively to Molly as well as each other.
It is evident that Molly has high expectations for her students. She makes adjustments to the
curriculum by re-teaching and reviewing materials whenever necessary. Molly is committed to
her students being successful.
Molly is respected by her colleagues. She works closely with other teachers in developing
instructional materials. She researches and posts current event articles on the Landmark
Outreach Newsworthy website. It is my pleasure to highly recommend Molly Dugdale for a
teaching position in your school or district. Mollys experience and work ethic make her an asset
to any school. If you have further questions concerning this candidate, please feel free to call
me. (617 428 9358)
